Counterbalance valves incorporate a relief function from port 1 (load) to port 2 (inlet) which provides protection from load and/or thermal over pressure. Three port counterbalance valves with reverse flow check valves are suitable for counterbalancing constant fixed loads where the valve is set at 1.3 times the constant load-induced pressure, with Port 3 not used.
